Reflection by Chidinma Chigozie

We were very blessed to have Chidinma, our Notre Dame student at Trinitiy House for eight weeks this summer. She truly embraced what it means to share and live life in community.

“My 8 weeks at Trinity House went by way too fast. From the moment I stepped in the door, I was welcomed so warmly and I knew that L’Arche would quickly feel like home. I’m so grateful for my time spent making memories with the core members and building relationships with them, as well as the staff at L’Arche. As a live-in, I got to spend a lot of time getting to know the personalities and quirks of each core member. I learned how to cherish every moment, especially the small ones. I’ll miss the trips to the lake and playing games like Uno, badminton, or Just Dance. I’ll miss coming together at the end of the day for dinner and ending every night with a prayer. I’ll miss breaking out into random singing during work party days and dancing the macarena. Though there’s so much to miss and reminisce on, I can’t wait to be able to share stories about this part of my life with others. My time at L’Arche has become such a pivotal point in my college experience and I can’t wait to utilize the skills and lessons learned from Trinity house. After the (too) short time spent living at L’Arche, I feel like I’ve grown so much and can’t wait to take everything I’ve learned with me. L’Arche will forever hold a special place in my heart and I’m so grateful for each core member, assistant, and staff member who played a role in making this experience so valuable and worthwhile.”
